Okra on repeat, 2025 is a process based work that has been meditative, regulating and deeply transformative. The repetition and materiality of clay has brought a groundedness, discipline and consistent level of patience to my practice. The project started in May 2024 instigated by my partner organising a mother’s day present of my family cooking me my favourite meal; rice, dhal and crispy bhindi. My love for this vegetable grew as I started moulding it, hand building it, researching it, growing it from seed, cooking it, drying it, extracting fibre from it, and talking about it to anyone who would listen.
